Here’s something I didn’t expect to see, a Titanfall-themed competitive card game. But alas, with the release of Titanfall 2 drawing ever closer, it’s time to bring all eyes onto the mech-based shooter with a card battler, Titanfall Frontline.
Nexon and Respawn Entertainment has this week announced Titanfall: Frontline a new CCG based on the Titanfall Universe. As you’d expect the game will have players battling it out using a series of cards featuring characters from the franchise, as well as “burn cards” something that was introduced into the first game and gave players a brief competitive edge on the battlefield.
Interestingly, Titanfall: Frontline is the first title in a “multi-game, multi-year partnership” between Nexon, Particle City, and Respawn Entertainment, to exclusively publish Titanfall mobile games, so there’s going to be more Titanfall mobile games in the future.
“We’ve worked hand-in-hand with Respawn to weave in card battle strategy and collectibility with the iconic gameplay elements that make Titanfall so unique and that will help evolve the genre,” said Larry Pacey, co-founder of Particle City. “From dropping a Titan onto the field of play to turn the tide of battle to using a combination of Parkour and Rodeo Burn Cards to take a Titan down, Titanfall: Frontline is unapologetically intense and utterly Titanfall.”
So, when can we get hands-on with Titanfall: Frontline? We have no idea at the moment, but players can pre-register for the game and receive exclusive rewards for doing so when the game launches.
Chances are it’ll launch along side the release of Titanfall 2 which is set to land on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 28.
