Another Pokémon Go update, another chance for sleuths to snoop around the code. And while we get the occasional glimpse at a new feature or two, the latest snoop has uncovered something big: Generation 2 Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
The Silph Road have done some data mining in the code of latest 0.45.0 Pokémon Go update and have discovered 100 new Pokémon names within the database, specifically the names of Pokémon #152 to 251. Yep, Generation 2 looks to be on the cusp of being added to Pokémon Go.
Although Niantic themselves have no news, this is pretty big for the game as it’ll likely have a number of people returning to the game (including myself) to catch Pokémon such as Chikorita, Igglybuff, Quagsire, Wobbuffet, and of course, Marill
It’s worth noting that while these names are present within the code, another update would be required in order to actually introduce the Pokémon into the game, which could take a while to arrive, alternatively a server update would be required on Niantic’s end, which again, could take some time to fully roll-out across the globe.
Elsewhere, The Silph Road also discovered new information about Ditto’s “Transform” move, which is the first move added to the game since launch. Transform will be a quick move as opposed to a special move, and it includes its own animation sequence. Whether or not this move has Ditto transform into its opposing Pokémon or something else entirely, is another question.
