Mass Effect Backwards Compatibility

The magnificent bastards over at Bioware have some huge news for us today with the reveal that Mass Effect 1-3 have joined the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility roster! A tweet today from Xbox UK announced the news quite modestly.

That’s not all however, as Mass Effect: Andromeda got a swanky new trailer today as well! The Mass Effect series being known for its cinematic trailers doesn’t fail to disappoint with this one.

The trailer shows some stunning visuals, new enemies, new landscapes and some cool new toys such as remote mines. And the Mass Effect official site added this little tidbit to further the hype:

“Take the role of the Pathfinder, leading humanity’s search for a new home in this unexplored and unforgiving region of space. You’ll chart your own course, navigating the Andromeda galaxy to unravel its mysteries, discover vivid alien worlds, and lead the charge to find the human race a new home among the stars. You’ll be able to upgrade and customize your gameplay experience with a deep and flexible progression system, and lead your squad into action-packed combat using advanced weaponry, special abilities, and more than a few new tricks.”

Exploring a new alien galaxy where humanity doesn’t seem too welcome is going to be an interesting twist on the norm. “We’re the aliens…” is quite a powerful line for a trailer to run with, be very intriguing to see how things degenerate into war and mass murder.

Andromeda is pegged for release in Spring 2017, and it’s looking pretty sweet so far.
