In a recent dev blog post, SteamWorld Heist developer Image & Form have talked about what’s next for the European developer.
The rather awesome SteamWorld Heist, which is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PC, Nintendo 3DS, WiiU and iOS, is sadly not coming to Android or Xbox One. Image & Form have made the decision to allow for them to focus on their next game saying:
“The plan was to release SteamWorld Heist on Xbox One and Android this year. While those versions may still happen in the future, we’re frantically working on a new game that’s eating up more and more time. At Image & Form we’re only 18 people and always have to choose our next venture carefully. Because of time constraints we’ve decided to focus on the new title and put the Android and Xbox One versions of Heist on hold.”
It’s not all bad news however, as Image & Form continued by writing that they are working on a title for the Nintendo Switch. This won’t be a port of SteamWorld Heist or SteamWorld Dig but rather a new game all together. There will hopefully be an official and more detailed announcement made soon for this new game ahead of the Nintendo Switch release next year. Additionally, SteamWorld Heist will not be getting any DLC or big content updates at the moment but Image & Form are “not ruling out the possibility”.
SteamWorld Heist was released back in December 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS (you can read our review here) and was later released to other platforms. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita ports being very enjoyable.
