Earlier this week the football community was shocked to hear that Chapecoense, a Brazillian team, had been involved in a horrific plane crash which resulted in the death of the majority of its players and staff.
In light of the tragic news, EA have revealed that they are paying tribute to this disaster by gifting each one of their Ultimate Team players with a crest and a kit of the ill fated team, urging players to sport these cosmetic items to show solidarity and to pay respect towards the team and their families.
A subtle but classy gesture by the developer, the message has been captured here on Reddit:
The gift has gone down pretty well in the FIFA community, with users posting on their official forum stating over half of the Top 100 table were sporting the kit. Members were also stating that they were going to utilise the gift for three days of mourning; it’s a rare showing of solidarity from what is usually quite a turbulent fanbase.
Fair play, EA.
