As we happily wave farewell to 2016, we reluctantly welcome 2017 into our lives, and while happier times are surely in the agenda, Focus Home Interactive wants to remind us once again what it has in store for us in the new year, one of those things is Deck 13’s ARPG, The Surge.
The Surge, for those who don’t know, is essentially a sci-fi Dark Souls style game, not unlike the developers previous game, Lords of the Fallen. Players find themselves in amongst the aftermath of a disaster at CREO Industries, and left behind are various mechanical foes hell bent on making sure you’re not around for too long.
Fortunately you’re armed with a CREO exo-suit which brings new strenghts to your character. Not only that, you can salvage parts from the enemies you defeat by simply tearing them limb from limb. Lovely.
In a brand new trailer for the game we get to see four minutes of unedited gameplay showing off some of the game’s visceral combat, the aforementioned limb removal, and some of the enemies players will face when the game launches next year.
The Surge is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
