The re-spookified shadow of Resident Evil 7 creeps ever closer ahead of the game’s release on January 24th, so it’s time for Capcom to roll out the big guns for that all-important last minute marketing push. Luckily enough it looks like they’ve done just that, as they’ve just announced Resident Evil 7: The Experience, a 45-minute interactive horror walk-through attraction situated in London’s West End lasting four days from the 20th until the 23rd of January.
Open to members of the public for free (on a first-come-first-served basis), patrons will make their way through the experience in pairs as they attempt to piece together what happened to the crew of a paranormal TV show who never returned from a dingy, dilapidated old house. Along the way they’ll have to solve puzzles, face “unexpected interruptions” and come face-to-face with a few of the game’s less savory characters.
Patrons will also get a chance to play a demo of the game itself ahead of its full release.
Laura Skelly, PR Manager at Capcom, had the following to say on the experience’s announcement:
For anyone who has ever wanted to enter the world of Resident Evil, now is your chance! We wanted to give fans a little glimpse into the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard gameplay, bringing it to life and allowing people to interact with the game in a brand-new way, and perhaps even having a chance encounter with some of the game’s characters. Playing on the idea of survival horror, we are really excited to see who will be able to escape the experience when it opens its doors to the public later this month.
I must admit, as a fan of the Resident Evil series I love the idea of being able to immerse oneself in RE7’s terrifying world. Here’s hoping the attraction turns out to be a lot of fun. Absolutely terrifying fun, but fun nonetheless.
Resident Evil 7 will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on January 24th. Resident Evil 7: The Experience will be open to members of the public for free from January 20th until January 23rd.
More information on the experience can be found at its official website.
