During the Fire Emblem Direct last night Nintendo announced the next game in the Fire Emblem series. Inspired by Fire Emblem Gaiden, the new game will be Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia which is set to launch on May 19.
During the broadcast a reveal trailer for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was unveiled showing off some gameplay, which was pretty impressive. Fire Emblem Gaiden was a classic game in the series but never saw a release here in the West. As the new title is inspired by Fire Emblem Gaiden will feature reworked systems and characters to tell an epic tale. The title will also include full voice acting and a new dungeon crawling element which was revealed in the trailer you can see below.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will feature two protagonists, Alm and Celicia, in the war over the continent Valentia. They will also have accompanying amiibos which will be released in a double pack. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will look to change up the Fire Emblem formula with not just the dungeon crawling aspects but also free-roaming, more flexible character progression, and more. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia sounds like it could be the most interesting Fire Emblem game to date.
Furthermore, Fire Emblem will return to home consoles next year as a title will make it to the Switch. The untitled game in currently in development and will be the first console release for a Fire Emblem game since 2008.
