Taking to Kickstarter to fund this final chapter in an epic tale developer Stoic hopes to delivery the best game in the series to date. Seeking $200,000, the 30 day campaign will see an end to the BAFTA-nominated series.
The Banner Saga is of course the beautiful hand drawn Viking role-playing epic where players engaging in tactical battles in a stunning world. Taking the charge to lead and manage a caravan, the choices you make have direct impact on the lives of your clansmen and their family’s as well as the story that unfolds. The aim with the Kickstarter campaign is to allow for The Banner Saga 3 to be the biggest more captivating instalment it can be.
The first game was funded through Kickstarter over 5 years ago so for developer Stoic it has come full circle. The Banner Saga 3 will see players embark on the final part of their journey beyond the wall of Darkness to traverse the world unlike anything they have seen before. With the world ending and the deep Viking inspiration there is a lot that developer Stoic can do with The Banner Saga 3. Having already released two successful games and even a board game, The Banner Saga is a series that has proven itself.
“We’re proud to be indie, and despite the stellar support we get from our publisher, Versus Evil, we’re not taking any outside funding to bring this series home, we’d love Kickstarter support to add additional features that are simply beyond our current budget” said John Watson, co-founder and Technical Director at Stoic.
It is also worth noting that although the Kickstarter campaign runs for 30 days the fulfilment of the Kickstarter Pledges will be by December 2018. At this point there is not a confirmed release date for The Banner Saga 3. Likewise, if you add $20 to your Kickstarter pledge you will receive the first two games as well.
