In a livestream yesterday, founder of the Evolution Championship Series, Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar spoke of the legacy of the renowned tournament franchise, and revealed the full lineup of titles for this years installment.
- Street Fighter V
- Tekken 7
- Guilty Gear Xrd: REVELATOR
- Injustice 2
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Blazblue: Centralfiction
- King of Fighters: XIV
Of interesting note is that while last year at Evo 2016, Super Smash Bros. Melee had the mainstage showing just prior to Street Fighter V, it will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which will have the primtime slot this year.
While these 8 titles are confirmed to appear at Evo this year, MrWizard revealed that they are throwing a curve-ball to the game lineup this year: the 9th title will be up to the fans to choose. Not since 2013 has Evo done this, but they will be featuring 9 games in a charity drive. Whichever game raises the most money for charity will be the final game confirmed to appear at the event; and will even be getting its Top 8 on the Grand Stage on Sunday.
The games available for support are:
- Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
- Killer Instinct
- Pokken Tournament
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Mortal Kombat XL
Evo 2017 will take place July 14-16th at its same venue of the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Registration for the event is live now at smash.gg/evo, and you can donate to support your favorite game in the Player Vote here.
