Marvel and Square Enix Team up for Multi-Game Partnership

Today Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix anounced a new multi-year, multi-game licensing agreement that’ll bring new games based on Marvel Super Heroes, starting with The Avengers.

Today the two companies announced the partnership which will see multiple games being released by Square Enix based on the various Super Hero properties belonging to Marvel. Though details are pretty thin, the first confirmed property will be The Avengers and according to the press release will be “designed for gamers worldwide”.

The game will also include “all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled long time fans of the franchise,” the press release reads. That being said, the game will also feature an original story and will “introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.”

The first trailer for the game has been released, which you can see below, and reveals the game will be in development by Tomb Raider developer, Crystal Dynamics, and Deus Ex developer, Eidos Montreal.

As you can see from the trailer, characters such as Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America will play a role in the game. Though I’m sure there are many more hints to other characters, I’m just not that keen eyed.

Either way, I’m pretty damn excited.
