Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 7: biohazard, which launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on January 24, has shipped 2.5 million copies to retail, bringing the series overall to 75 million sales.
While those sorts of numbers just three days after release are indeed impressive, it’s worth noting that this is shipped to retail not actual consumer sales. That being said, it’s still pretty good going.
As for the series overall, Resident Evil 5 is still the best selling game of the series with around 7.1 million sales, followed by Resident Evil 6 at 6.6 million. It’s still early days for Resident Evil 7: biohazard, so chances are this could blast past these figures in a month’s time.
Capcom have apparently estimated that Resident Evil 7: biohazard will see a total of 4 million copes sold by the end of the financial year (March 31).
In our review, Paul Kelly praised the game saying that it’s “violent, creepy, and terrifying”, but still suffers with Capcom’s habit of over-writing.
