Following the abysmal excuse of a game that was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Tony Hawk has a lot of making up to do for those of us wanting a decent skateboarding game on current generations and that might just be happening.
According to reports, Tony Hawk is working on a new game but this time it won’t be with Activision. The last time we heard Tony Hawk was working on a game aside from the recent Pro Skater release, it was for a fairly poor mobile game which was pulled before it even fully launched.
However both of these titles were tied to Activision, this time however it won’t be.
“Not from Activision. I’m potentially working on something but it’s so early I couldn’t talk about it,” he said to Jenken Magazine. “I don’t have any contracts signed but it’s exciting. I feel like it’s with the right people so I should know more in the next couple months.”
Now this could mean a handful of things, first Activision has sold off the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise to someone else. Or the new game won’t be tied to the Pro Skater series at all and will act as some sort of spiritual successor.
Here’s another wild thought, what if Tony Hawk is on board with the rumoured Skate 4? What are the chances? Slim, I know, but what if he’s on board as a consultant? It’s not like the Skate series was without its famous faces.
I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
