Eidos Montreal Ditching Deus Ex for Guardians of the Galaxy?

Following Square Enix and Marvel’s announcement of a multi-year multi-game partnership that’ll start with The Avengers, word has got out that Eidos Montreal, one of the developers named in this announcement, may also be working on a Guardians of the Galaxy video game.

You may know Eidos Montreal from their work on the Deus Ex franchise, but if this rumour is to be believed the company may be putting Adam Jensen’s adventures on hold whilst they work on this new title.

According to a new Eurogamer report the studio is currently in the pre-production stages of an untitled game based on the Guardians of the Galaxy property. Eidos Montreal will also be taking the lead on this project, however other details are currently unknown.

Square Enix and Marvel’s The Avengers Project is expected to be fully unveiled next year, as for the Guardians of the Galaxy release, that’s yet to be officially announced, but may come sooner as the only Guardians of the Galaxy release from Marvel (which has been announced, at least) is Vol.2 which is set to launch in May this year.

However it’s entirely likely that Marvel have another Guardians movie planned which has yet to be announced of which this will be a tie-in. Again, this is purely speculation.

In the mean time at least we’ve got Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy game to look forward to.
