Yooka-Laylee just got even better, and it’s not even out yet! The adventure/platformer from PlayTonic Games is going to contain some madcap multiplayer modes! All you have to do is grab some friends, some spare controllers and head over to Rextro’s Arcade.
The mini-games available include: Glaciators, Kartos Karting, Blag the Flag, Gun-let Run, Jobstacle Course, Hurdle Hijinx and more! Allowing up to 4 players in local co-op or single player high-score challenges!
Glaciators will see Yooka’s and Laylee’s battle it out to obtain the most quills. Kartos Karting, Hurdle Hijinx and Jobstacle course will involve a mad dash to the finish while avoiding what the course (and your friends) can throw at you. Blag the Flag is your standard capture the flag mode, but with adorable googley eyes and hopefully a smack talking flag. Gun-let Run arms our reptillian brothers and unleashes them upon hordes of enemies.
However the fun doesn’t stop there, players will be able to uncover “play coins” that can be used to upgrade and enhance Rextro’s arcade cabinets. Doing so will help you to find new pagies and get that step closer to 100%.
And that’s not all! Yooka-Laylee will also allow a second player to help within the main adventure by taking control of the “Bee Team”. Your buddy will be able to help collect quills and butterflies to give Yooka when health runs low. Think Murphy from Rayman Legends but less distracting and arguably more helpful.
Casting your mind back to Yooka-Laylee’s predecessor, Banjo-Tooie, you might remember a lack luster multiplayer. Featuring a similar line-up of mini-games hopefully Yooka-Laylee has learned from past mistakes. Although the main attraction of these games is the single player adventure, but sharing it with a few friends is never a bad thing!
Yooka-Laylee is available for pre-order and is set for release April 11.
