The long await Fire Emblem game for smart phones was finally announced during the recent Fire Emblem direct. Nintendo will bring Fire Emblem Heroes to smart devices and deliver a brand-new story with gameplay akin to the series.
Players will take on the role of a summoner and call on the aid of Fire Emblem characters from throughout the history of the series. This includes characters from Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates, and Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. Characters can be found and earned in battle or by using orbs to summon them. Though there seems to be an element of luck to ensure you get a character you want, and you can bet that a good amount of time and maybe money will be invested here.
As for the gameplay, Fire Emblem Heroes will take place on an 8×6 grid that is designed to fit on smartphones. The game will use the weapon triangle system which is normal for the series. This means that Fire Emblem Heroes will still offer the deep tactical depth that fans of the series will know.
Featuring new artwork and voiceovers, Fire Emblem Heroes will bring the many characters of Fire Emblem to life like never before. With a number of different ways for players to unfold the story and battle in different modes. Fire Emblem Heroes will give players plenty of gameplay when it launches this February. You can even take part in a campaign that is running from now through to the release of the game to vote for your two favourite heroes. The winners, one male and one female, will then be featured in the game on its release. You can take part in the campaign and vote at the “Choose Your Heroes” website.
Fire Emblem Heroes will release on Android on February 2, with registration available on the Play Store now. An iOS release is listed as “soon”. It’s definitely interesting to see Nintendo favour Android over iOS.
