Blizzard has this week unveiled that Overwatch, their hero shooter which launched in May last year, has hit the 25 million player mark, up five million from the company’s October announcement.
This news comes hot off the heels of the recent addition of the New Lunar Year event which has brought a ton of new cosmetic items to the game to celebrate the Year of the Rooster.
Since October the game has seen a brand new character being introduced in the form of Sombra, a pretty long-awaited character. Players had found references to Sombra pretty much since the game launched, however it took her well over six months to actually be introduced into the game.
2017 is set to be a pretty big year for Overwatch and I’m looking forward to seeing what Blizzard has in store for us over the course of the next twelve months.
The world needs heroes, and over 25 MILLION have answered the call!
