Activision Blizzard had its quarterly earnings call last Friday. Numbers are slowly reaching the internet and all in all Blizzard games seem to have performed incredibly well.
The studio reported that it reached 447 million monthly active users, a new milestone for the Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and Overwatch developer/publisher.
Overwatch received a lot of attention and deservedly so, since it became Blizzard’s fastest game ever to reach over 25 million players globally. The first-person shooter broke Diablo III‘s long-standing launch year record and received 55 Game of the Year awards.
Good news for fans of the popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft, as well. The active player base grew 10% in 2016 and the fourth quarter was even better. Legion launched on August 30 and convinced 20% more players to subscribe compared to the fourth quarter of 2015.
The in-game revenues had record levels as well, driven by World of Warcraft in-game content, such as level 100 boosts, and Overwatch customization items. Well done, Blizzard. Now bring us WOW 2, please?
