Microsoft has announced that Forza Horizon 3, the latest game in the Forza Horizon series, has surpassed 2.5 million copies sold pushing the Forza series overall into the $1 billion earner club.
The company announced the news yesterday revealing that of December 2016 the entire Forza series has passed $1 billion in retail sales. This puts the series up there in the same ranks as Halo, though it still has a long way to go before it beats that series’ $5 billion.
In addition, Microsoft also shared some other statistics for Forza for 2016. More than 14 million people were “involved in the Forza community” on Xbox One and Windows 10 during 2016. And the last three Forza games, Forza Motorsport 5 and 6 as well as Forza Horizon 3, is the best selling racing series for this generation of consoles.
They finally ended the announcement with a note that possibly hints at what’s in store for players later this year, saying that they “can’t wait for you to see what 2017 will bring.”
This could be in reference to Forza Motorsport 7 which was unofficially unveiled at the end of 2017 thanks to racing wheel company Fanatec’s CEO asking fans to “let us know what new features you would like to see supported in FM7”
