It’s officially official! Journey to Un’goro is the name of the next Hearthstone expansion! If you’re like me and was aware of the leak from a couple weeks ago then you’re probably not surprised at this reveal but damn it, it’s new cards man. Be excited!
Un’Goro Crater is a deep jungle-like zone in World of Warcrarft and is the place where the Titans conducted their experiments to create life on Azeroth. I never got to explore this area back when I was poopsock WoW player so it’s gonna be sweet to experience it in Hearthstone.
Earlier today, the ever charming Ben Brode and Jason Chase revealed some of the new cards we’ll be getting our hands in an awesome video, live from the crater itself! There’s a lot of new this time around. The first new comes dressed as a Card Keyword called “Adapt” which is a Battlecry that will let you to Discover 3 out of 10 possible augmentations for your cards, allowing you to adapt to the situation. *tips fedora*
The other new feature, is an all new card called “Quest Cards”. These cost 1 Mana and will always start in your opening hand. When played, the card will give you a task to fulfill, much like in any MMO. Upon completion however, you aren’t rewarded with a little bag of gold, no sir. You’ll be given some of the most powerful cards ever printed in the history of Hearthstone. See for yourself!
It’s always an exciting time when a new expansion is on the horizon but this one’s even more interesting, considering that we’ll be losing a huge amount of familiar cards due to last 2 expansions being rotated out of the Standard format. Not to mention the big changes coming to the Ladder system and Arena for that matter.
Lately, many in the Hearthstone Community have expressed concern with the state of the game, especially after Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy announced he would be quitting the competitive scene because of it’s numerous coin flippy cards and the frustrating Ladder system. I’d normally say that the strong opinions of one guy are nothing but strong opinions and probably shouldn’t be valued above any others but when it’s arguably the best Hearthstone player in the world who’s won over $45,000 and has placed 1st in 6 different majors, you might want to at least sit down with a cup of coffee and hear him out.
Many have high hopes for Blizzard to improve not only the gameplay with less RNG mechanics but by also putting a lot more care into the other game modes and even the game client itself. And with games like Shadowverse and Gwent getting a lot of attention from scorned Hearthstone players, Blizzard needs to top deck some much needed across the board improvements.
That being said, the content shown in this video has truly captivated me so I’ll be sticking around for a long while!
