EA Games has revealed to investors that a new Need for Speed game will launch sometime during the next fiscal year which ends in March 2018.
This new game follows EA and Ghost Games’ reboot of the series which launched in 2015. The new release is currently untitled and will be the first main entry into the series since the reboot.
CEO Andrew Wilson, speaking to investors, claimed that the new game will be “ambitious” and will have a focus on competitive online gameplay, though he didn’t elaborate further. It’s likely however that it’ll take a leaf out of Turn 10’s book and have more online features like the Forza series.
2015’s Need for Speed reboot was a welcome change and update for the series but still fell short in certain areas. Hopefully this time around Ghost Games and EA can pull out all the stops.
