Looks like the folks at Oddworld Inhabitants are relishing the opportunity to very gradually build hype for Oddworld: Soulstorm, the follow-up to 2014’s 2.5D platformer remake Oddworld: New & Tasty, as they’ve just released a single new screenshot from the game a couple weeks after the first was revealed, once again thanks to the Oddworld fan community deciphering a new series of cryptic clues and messages from the shadowy “Spirit of 1029” organization.
As you can see above, it’s an undeniably creepy image of one of the series’ iconic Mudokon creatures – seemingly the same one from the first teaser screenshot – strapped to a chair and looking clearly frightened.
Judging by the fact that there are three locked photos still to go, I think it’s safe to say that The Spirit of 1029 isn’t quite done yet and that the community will still have a few more codes to crack before everything is revealed.
I must admit, Oddworld Inhabitants have found a great way of getting the community really involved with their new title even at this presumably early stage – I can’t claim to have any great connection to the Oddworld series but this ARG has made me want to look into it!
