Bad news for Star Trek fans. Ubisoft has delayed Bridge Crew, the upcoming virtual reality title that was supposed to be ready on March 14. The game will now be available on May 30 for the PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Luckily there’s a silver lining to every cloud: when the game releases, the original U.S.S. Enterprise bridge will be included. Developer Red Storm thought it was important to add a part of classic Star Trek, especially since it’s the series’ 50th anniversary.
A specific location has seldom been more important to a franchise’s development, so the studio was determined to add the feature so that players could experience their own adventures on the classic space vessel.
The 50th anniversary actually took place last year, since the original series debuted in 1966. It aired for three seasons on NBC and followed the interstellar adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and his crew aboard the aforementioned starship.
Did you know the series has even been cited for several real life technological inventions, such as the cell phone?
