During the Switch announcement, Electronic Arts took the stage to confirm a FIFA game for Nintendo’s new gaming platform. This piece of information remained suitably vague until now, because today EA confirmed that this unnamed FIFA title will indeed be some sort of FIFA 18 release.

EA has plans to release a custom Switch version of the game, but even the developers are not sure about how differently it will be compared to the standard Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC edition. Previously the game has been rumoured to be a port of the Xbox 360 / PlayStation 3 version of FIFA 17.

According to EA’s chief competitive officer, Peter Moore, the Vancouver development team will give their absolute best to deliver a high-quality port, but the studio has been avoiding further inquiries related to possibly missing features. Let’s hope the final product is not too constrained…

FIFA 18 will be available in September. Last year we were introduced to “The Journey” the first Story mode for the game, details on this year’s new features have not been shared with the public yet. Maybe youth leagues are EA’s next focus?
