First Footage of Star Wars: The Last Jedi Detailed

Today Disney shareholders met in Denver, Colorado and were shown footage from many different upcoming Disney films, including the highly anticipated movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Likely to be the same footage that will be shown next month at Star Wars Celebration, we get a few details courtesy of Daniel Miller’s (reporter for the LA Times) tweets. Miller used his 140 characters to spell out what he was seeing to give us a little insight on the early screening.

Some people may consider these details spoilers so you may want to stop reading here, however, this is a Star Wars film, the mentioned details seem to be obvious and personally I wouldn’t consider anything here spoiler-ish.

So we have confirmation of Chewbacca, General Leia Organa, and Finn, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise since they were each pretty much guaranteed. The interesting part is Luke not knowing who Rey is but that is likely the first scene of the movie or very early and if their relationship is what everyone is speculating, then they haven’t seen each other for a very long time.

Carrie Fisher completed filming for her role as General Leia Organa before she passed away late last year. Disney CEO Bob Iger had this to say about her, according to the LA Times, “Carrie Fisher has been an iconic part in this franchise from the very beginning. We all miss her. She has great talent and wit. We’re proud that this movie coming up is part of her legacy.”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled to release on December 15 of this year and looks to be an exciting episode for the series. Iger, speaking about the film, said the movie is “a perfect chapter in the iconic Skywalker family drama.”

As mentioned, Star Wars Celebration is next month in Orlando, Florida and I anticipate more news and announcements coming from that event as well as news on Star Wars Battlefront 2.
