Rocket League Sells 10.5 Million Copies, No Sequel Planned

In an interview with Kinda Funny, Psyonix’s VP Jeremy Dunham confirmed that Rocket League surpassed the 10.5 million sales, a new achievement for the successful football-with-cars title. This number includes all free copies handed to PlayStation Plus subscribers in July 2015 on PlayStation 4.

Dunham also stated that the total number of registered players in Rocket League is almost 29 million, including split-screen players. Around 7 million of them played the game in February, meaning that its playerbase keeps growing steadily.

However, instead of launching a sequel in the near future, Psyonix wants to continue taking care of Rocket League with new modes, cars and more. They don’t want to segregate the huge community they’ve already built with a new title.

“If they’re playing our game, we’re not going to penalize them and make them buy our game again just because we want to add a couple new features”, said Dunham in relation to the players. “We want to let them know we’re in it for the long haul, if they’re in it for the long haul.”

You can take a look at the whole interview in the video above. Colin Moriarty and Jeremy Dunham talk about other aspects of Rocket League, like forming partnerships with other companies, publishing games on PlayStation Store and other titles.

Pysonix has already proved their commitment with their fans with a constant flow of content. The new features they’re planning to launch will come out in the next couple of years.
