UK online retailer base.com may have accidentally let slip the release date for Rockstar’s upcoming western RPG, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Before we begin, there’s every possibility that this is either a very specific place holder, or the listing was made in error. Got it? Good. Okay, so let’s get into the news. According to the listing for Red Dead Redemption 2, the game is set for launch on September 26.
This would fall on a Tuesday, which is usually the day for US and Worldwide releases. Now, to ensure we weren’t just looking at a placeholder, we checked out a few other games due for release later this year, and they all have December 31 release dates – a more fitting place holder date.
Now, we know Red Dead Redemption 2 is launching in the fall, or Autumn here in the UK, so after a quick Google, I found that Autumn officially begins on Friday, September 22 this year. There’s every possibility base.com have chosen the Semester 26 date because it’s the first Tuesday in fall.
Looking back at Rockstars last blockbuster GTA V, that launched in relatively the same window on September 13, so this release date doesn’t seem too far off the mark. As I said though, this could just be a wildly specific place holder and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
We’ve reached out to base for a comment.
