Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus & March Patch Burst Onto The Scene

Get set to return to the world of Eos because the hotly anticipated first story DLC for Final Fantasy XV titled Episode Gladiolus has just been released.

This post contains minor spoilers for the early parts of Final Fantasy XV.

After Noctis and the gang annihilate an Imperial base only to come face-to-face with the immensely powerful Ravus Nox Fleuret, Gladiolus finds himself forced to realize the limits of his own strength. Deciding that he needs to find a way to possess a comparable level of power to protect the Chosen King on his journey, he splits from the group to take on the ancient ruins found in the Kingdom of Lucis thirty years ago, where the spirits of heroes that once served the King await the next generation of warriors.

He meets with Cor, the sole survivor of the ruins’ trials, and the pair venture forth to challenge the Shield of the Founder King: the Blademaster, Gilgamesh.

Gladiolus will play differently to Noctis, focusing on defense, blocking and counterattacks. As such, two new combat systems have been introduced to compliment Gladiolus’ gameplay style, those being the “Valor” and “Rage” systems.

The release of Episode Gladiolus coincides with the release of the somewhat controversial “March Update” patch that “[enhances] the Chapter 13 story experience”, adding new cutscenes and an entirely new route for players to take through the much-maligned chapter. The update also adds more areas to explore throughout the world and introduces more powerful ring magic.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus is available now as a standalone DLC purchasable through the PlayStation & Xbox Games Stores or as part of the Final Fantasy XV Season Pass.
