It feels like we’ve been waiting for a release date for Akiba’s Beat for too long, but now the wait is over as PQube has announced that Akiba’s Beat will launch in Europe on May 19.
Akiba’s Beat, a follow-on from Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed, will change up the gameplay from the last game. This time around the game is more of a dungeon crawler than an action RPG with a musical twist.
Once again the game is set in Akihabara, Japan’s electronics district where the streets are lined with neon signs for stores that offer all manner of electronics, nerdy goods, as well as cosplay cafes.
Whereas the last game told a tale of the undead hiding in plain sight, Akiba’s Beat will tell the tale of Asahi Tachibana, a self proclaimed NEET who finds himself reliving the same Sunday over and over again. Fortunately he’s not alone as others are also stuck in this perpetually repeating day. If that wasn’t weird enough, peoples delusions start to become a reality, and it’s up to Asahi and his companions to get to the bottom of it all.
Akiba’s Beat launches on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Europe on May 19 and in North America on May 16.
