Capcom Brings Back Retro Disney Classics

Capcom is bringing back some of your favourite characters from the 80s and 90s, hitting them with the 1080p HD treatment and delivering them to your home console or PC. The publisher announced today The Disney Afternoon Collection, a collection featuring six games that long-time Disney fans can enjoy.

The Disney Afternoon Collection will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on April 18 for $19.99. Players will have their choice of classic games to play through featuring Chip ‘n Dale, Darkwing Duck and more.

The six games include Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, and TaleSpin.

This may be the cheapest way you’re going to get a copy some of these games. DuckTales 2 and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 can run you a pretty penny when buying the originals. This makes my wallet very happy.

All six games are improved HD versions of the originals and feature a number of filtering options to replicate that classic retro look and feel. The games will also have newly added modes consisting of Boss Rush and Time Attack. The modes are exactly what they sound like but add new ways to play these classic games.

Also added in is a “Rewind” feature. If you remember how hard some of these retro games can be, you might appreciate this. The Rewind feature allows you to rewind time and try a difficult jump or move again, hopefully learning from your mistakes before that dreaded game over screen.

Lastly, the Collection will offer an in-game Dinsey Museum that fans of each series and Disney will be sure to love. The Museum will celebrate the original releases and show off concept art, advertisements, character art, and music all preserved in their original glory.
