Later today Overwatch’s newest hero will be added to all three platformer: PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. Typically, in the past, patches go live around 7 pm GMT (3 pm EST).
When patch 1.9 releases, Orisa will not be available for competitive play right away. “We want to give players some time to learn about and play Orisa before she’s placed into the crucible of Competitive Play,” says Principal Designer, Scott Mercer.
Mercer added that Overwatch’s latest tank hero will be available in Quick Play, the Arcade and Play vs AI. Orisa has been playable on the Public Test Realm since March 2 and is finally making her way to the public.
Orisa is a robot repaired by a genius eight-year-old Efi and reconfigured and installed a personality core that she had designed herself. The newest hero is a tank who is different by being most effective from mid-range but can protect the frontline with a protective barrier. The Robot Guardian also provides considerable cover fire with a large ammo clip and can cause havoc with her Halt ability as she shoots a graviton charge that can pull enemies from ledges or off the map entirely if placed correctly.
Orisa was confirmed as Overwatch’s newest hero earlier this month to the surprise of some. Most of the Overwatch community is waiting for the inevitable Doomfist announcement. Hopefully, we won’t be waiting much longer to see if Terry Crews got his wish.
