More Estimated Sales Figures Released for Nintendo Switch

Following yesterday’s report that the Switch had sold double the amount during its first weekend than the Wii U, now more numbers are starting to come forward for the Switch in both Japan and the Americas, and just as we expected, it’s definitely positive, especially considering the release window.

The first bit of news comes via New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield after hearing from Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime who revealed that sales of the Nintendo Switch had beaten the Wii into second place in “the Americas”.

As for Japan, Famitsu is reporting that Nintendo has sold over 330,000 units during March 3 and March 5.

Together these are both pretty incredible numbers considering the console launched in March rather than the usual November/December Holiday seasons. If we were to add these numbers up, the Nintendo Switch becomes Nintendo’s fastest selling console in the company’s history.

Nintendo will likely release official numbers during their end-of-year briefing later this month.

This article previously stated that Nintendo had released sales numbers, however that’s not the case. The article has been updated to reflect that.
