Tech giant Samsung has announced the newest addition to the Galaxy S series, the S8 and S8+. Dj Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, had this to say about the announcement:

“The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ usher in a new era of smartphone design and fantastic new services, opening up new ways to experience the world. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are our testament to regaining your trust by redefining what’s possible in safety and marks a new milestone in Samsung’s smartphone legacy.”

Continuing the tradition of sleek design, both devices will feature a buttonless interface courtesy of the “Infinity Display”, producing a smooth and continuous display surface. Both the 5.6″ S8 and the 6.2″ S8+ will encorporate Corning Gorilla Glass 5, front and back, ensuring a durable and versatile design.

The new handhelds will boast an impressive 8 Mega-Pixel front facing camera with a 12MP dual pixel rear camera to back it up (see what I did there?). Not to mention the improved imaging software to help capture the moment (or that perfect selfie) all the easier.

Most impressively however has to be the processing power packed into these sleek and slender devices! Housing the industry’s first 10nm processor, the S8 and S8+ will be capable of better efficiency and faster processing speeds. With gigabit ready LTE and Wi-Fi the new processor will enable faster downloads and file transfers, perfect for those on the go!

The swanky new devices come with a compliment of space-age biometric security features designed to keep your data secure, including a fingerprint scanner, facial recognition and even an iris scanner feature. All these can be combined in whichever way you please, leading to the most secure smartphone on the market!

As well as all the new tech and features, the samsung devices will feature the user favourites such as dust and water resistance, 256GB microSD support, as well as the usual bells and whistles (heartbeat sensor, accelorometers etc.).

As is standard with modern devices, the S8 and S8+ will introduce Bixby, an intelligent interface system designed to help users navigate their device simply and conveniently. Using a variety of simple text, touch and voice commands, users will be able to access many different apps including camera, contacts, gallery, messages and settings with Samsung expanding the list at every opportunity. Bixby will also feature some contextual awareness, allowing it to learn how best to assist you based on interests, locations and situation. An image recognition system built into Bixby will be able provide useful information for nearby locations and shops.

The S8 and S8+ will bring with it some unparalleled connectivity and interactivity, allowing it to easily integrate with other devices, including the Gear VR and controller, powered by Oculus. The extra processing power provided by the 10nm processor will allow users to create stunning 15MP 360-degree photos when combined with the Gear 360. Along with this, Samsung DeX will provide a desktop like performance that will enable easier multi-tasking and make working from a smartphone even easier.

The devices will feature 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, Octa Core 2.3GHz+1.7GHz Quads providing 64-bit operations crammed into the tiny 10nm processor. Weighing less than 200g, the S8 and S8+ will hold 3,000 and 3,500mAh batteries compatible with fast charge and wireless charge technology.

Available from April 21, both devices will come with a range of vibrant colour options such as Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold. The suggested retail price remains unknown at this time.
