Updated: Sonic Mania Delayed, Project Sonic 2017 Renamed Sonic Forces

Update: Now SEGA has released the videos online, we’ve updated the article with those.

Original Story: In a Sonic panel hosted at SXSW, Sega revealed that Sonic Mania is getting delayed from spring to summer 2017. The company stated that the developers want to polish the game as much as possible.

Additionally, Sega shared some details about the game, like pre-order bonuses, a collector’s edition vinyl album, new types of enemies, and the return of Flying Battery Zone. This classic stage from Sonic & Knuckles was shown in a brief trailer during the conference.

Regarding Project Sonic 2017, the game is now officially called Sonic Forces, a 3D adventure starring both versions of Sonic. The name makes reference to the clash between Sonic and Dr. Eggman, good versus evil.

Sonic Forces will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (the same platforms as Sonic Mania) this holiday season.
