Blizzard Entertainment has finally confirmed that they’ll be re-releasing their sci-fi real-time strategy game, StarCraft, following a string of rumours.
Entitled simply, StarCraft: Remastered, this 4K remaster will bundle together StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War. The news was announced during Blizzard’s I <3 StarCraft event in Korea earlier today.
This “4K UHD” remake will bring the classic campaign and multiplayer mode but looking much, much better. It’ll also include the game’s original sountrack and dialogue completely “re-recorded and rejuvenated” as well as better briefings between missions.
In terms of the level of details players can expect, Blizzard said they can “zoom out for a Battlecruiser’s view of the battlefield, or zoom in to see the veins on a Mutalisk’s wings.”
Other improvements will include better matchmaking, full connectivity to Blizzard’s network, as well as cloud saves, custom maps, replays, and keybinds.
StarCraft: Remastered is set to launch this Summer. Could this usher in a new division of StarCraft esports?
