SteamWorld Dig 2 has been announced for the Nintendo Switch. Image & Form announced the news yesterday along with a trailer. The game is set for a summer 2017 release and will launch as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
The trailer features a sneak peek at the gameplay and shows a new playable character, Dorothy.
Though further details are scarce, it does seem that there are plans to release the game on other consoles. According to the game’s FAQ, this second instalment will be longer than the original and will feature “all kinds of enemies, treasures and traps“. There’s also good news for fans of the first game’s protagonist Rusty. The developers assure that Rusty will be a part of the sequel, stating “he is very important to the events unfolding in SteamWorld Dig 2“.
