This year’s Call of Duty title may have just been leaked, and if it’s true I’m probably going to cry tear of joy.
Not to be outdone by their competitor (EA), Activision may be following the Battlefield 1 suit and opting for a “back to its roots” approach with Call of Duty. Yep, we’re going back to World War II according to this latest leak.
Over on YouTube, user “TheFamilyVideoGamers” (via CharlieIntel) posted a video containing what could be concept art of this year’s Call of Duty release. According to these images, this year’s release will be titled Call of Duty WWII.
The artwork also appears to be on special edition box arts, so if these images are legitimate, we can expect plenty of different editions for players to purchase, which comes as no surprise.
With Activision’s three-year developer rotation, Call of Duty 2017 will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, the developers behind Advanced Warfare. If these images are legitimate, it’ll be interesting to see how they cope with going from futuristic to historical.
Previously Activision said that this year’s Call of Duty will go “back to its roots”, so these leaks definitely seem plausible.
Activison is yet to comment on these rumours.
