Last week saw the launch of Ghost Recon Wildlands, one of Ubisoft’s biggest games to date, and while many weren’t too optimistic about its performance, this week’s UK Gaming Charts reveal that it’s become the biggest video game launch of 2017 so far.
Last week was pretty big with the launch of the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn, however none of these games were a patch on what Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Wildlands has achieved.
Last year Ubisoft’s The Division scored the biggest game launch of Q1 2016 (and the biggest Q1 game launch of all time), and it looks like Wildlands follows suit becoming the biggest week 1 launch of the year so far.
Horizon Zero Dawn drops to second place this week, with LEGO Worlds landing in third place this week pushing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild down to fourth place. Another new entry into the top ten is Nier: Automata which launched last week and lands in sixth place this week.
The final new release within the Top 40 is Nintendo’s ‘Mario Sports Superstars’ for 3DS which debuts in thirty-seventh place.
