The newest Overwatch comic, ‘Uprising’, is set seven years in the past and adds more lore to the popular shooter.
‘Uprising’ fans the flames on speculation in the lead up to a rumoured in-game event launching next week. The title and location seem to tie it to the confidential and archived mission file teaser on the Overwatch Twitter account earlier this week.
The comic starts with an extremist omnic group taking hostages at King’s Row, London. The short piece deals briefly with complex issues around interventionism and ‘human’ (and omnic) rights.
It features an interesting danger room-esque sequence with Tracer and Genji, which culminates in Tracer being signed off for active duty in Overwatch.
No spoilers here but fans won’t be disappointed with the issue – it even reveals the origins of Tracer’s infamous catchphrase; “Cheers love! The cavalry’s here”.
