SEGA has finally announced that Yakuza Kiwami, the HD remake of the original Yakuza, will come to Europe and the Americas August 29.
The game is being dubbed as an “extreme” HD remake. As well as a graphical upgrade, Yakuza Kiwami adds over 30 minutes of new cutscenes which aim to link up the main Yakuza series with the prequel Yakuza 0 series.
New distractions have been added as well as side quests, combat upgrades and re-recorded Japanese dialogue. There’s also a new element in which Majima, the popular one-eyed maniac from the series, will surprise and challenge the player when they least expect it.
There’s also a brand new interactive timeline of the Yakuza series on the website called the Yakuza Experience. It will provide an overview of the series’ history, character maps and the first issue of a 10-part Yakuza comic.
Yakuza Kiwami will release April 29 in Europe and the Americas for $29.99. Watch the announcement trailer below:
