Bandai Namco’s new game is Code Vein, a Dark Souls-inspired action RPG from the developers of God Eater.
Although Bandai Namco are set to fully unveil whatever they’ve been teasing, on April 20, Siliconera have got the scoop a little early (via Hachima). The new game announced in this week’s Famitsu, is called Code Vein and is a dungeon exploring action RPG due for release in 2018.
Code Vein is an original title by Bandai Namco and is a “hard action RPG”. It has Keita Iizuka as the producer, Hiroshi Yoshimura as the director, and Yusuke Tomizawa as the project leader.
In the game players take on the role of supernatural vampires called “Revenants” who are part of an isolated world called “Vein” the main setting of the story in which players will “discover the truth”. During the game, players will encounter beings called “Lost” previous Revenants who have succumb to blood loss.
While there are some details, in terms of the weapons the Revenants will use as well as some of their abilities, it’s all a little spotty at the moment due to being lost in translation.
The key details however are that the game is currently in development and is around 35% complete. It’ll be developed in tandem with the God Eater series, it’ll also have no ties to God Eater. There will also be a “Buddy” system in the game, presumably one that involves bringing an NPC along for the journey.
Finally, a trailer for the game is expected in “Early May”.
