This morning Bandai Namco officially unveiled Code Vein, their brand new original action RPG by the developers of God Eater.
Code Vein was initially unveiled in this week’s Famitsu magazine revealing the game to be a Dark Souls-style hardcore action RPG from the developers of the God Eater franchise. The game is set to be released in 2018.
At the time we had a rough translation of the game’s plot which was a little unclear, but now we have all of the information so let’s dive right in.
Code Vein is set to launch on “major home consoles” in 2018 and will have players taking the role of a member of a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. After a mysterious disaster has left the world in ruin, it’s up to this society to get to the bottom of things and find out why the Thorns of Judgement have pierced the world.
“This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity,” Bandai Namco said in a press release.
As a Revenant players are tasked with embarking on a journey throughout the world along with a resident of Vein as their companion to uncover these lost memories and find a way out of this world. Along the way players will come across Blood Veils, devices used for draining blood of their enemies to enhance their own abilities.
It definitely sounds interesting. It also looks pretty gritty too, which you can see in the screenshots below:
