Netflix has announced that it’ll be relaunching a brand new series of the hit 90s cartoon, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego in 2019.
Carmen Sandiego was probably one of the weirdest kids TV shows as the titular character hardly appeared in any of the episodes. You see, this globetrotting superthief was always being hunted down by ACME Detective Agency agents Zack and Ivy. The show usually revolved around the protagonists trying to figure out where Carmen is, with her making an appearance at the end of each episode, once Zack and Ivy had foiled her plan, jetting off to another country.
Not to mention that all of this was based on a video game in which a live-action character starts playing before each episode.
Anyway, if like me, you were a huge fan of the series, you’ll be pleased to know that Netflix has announced that it’ll be making an all-new animated series that’ll launch on the service in 2019. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and DHX Media will be showrun by The Batman’s Duane Capizzi, with CJ Kettler (The Tick) and Caroline Fraser as executive producers.
The series itself will consist of 20, 22 minute episodes, and will explore Carmen’s origins as she once again travels the world stealing stuff. The show will star Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) play the lead, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as the live-action player.
Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego show is expected to launch on the service in 2019.
