Halo 6 to Focus on Master Chief

Halo 5: Guardians launched back in 2015 to some mixed responses from fans. Mostly over the confusion of the initial marketing of the game, but some fans were disappointed in the amount of Master Chief in a mainline Halo game. The beloved, main character of the series was mostly absent throughout the game. Looks like 343 Industries has learned their lesson.

Studio Head Kiki Wolfkill and Franchise Director Frank O’Conner spoke about their plans for Halo 6 after the backlash from the community regarding Halo 5: Guardians. Speaking with GamesTM magazine, via WCCFTech, O’Conner said, “We very much realized that people wanted Master Chief’s story of Halo 5 – We definitely marketed in a way that we hoped was going to bring surprise, but for some fans and certainly fans of Master Chief, it was a huge disappointment because they wanted more Chief.”

O’Conner went on to say, “Instead of focusing on bringing new characters into the world and expanding the playable characters we’ve sort of shifted the focus a little bit to making the world a little bit more realistic and compelling and, I would say, more fun for players who get to inhabit the Chief in the future, pretty much as they demanded.”

Seems like 343 Industries have heard our cries and will be giving us a more focused, Master Chief story with Halo 6. Other than what we’ve seen in this interview, we don’t have many details on Halo 6. E3 is in a few weeks and we expect some kind of announcement at Xbox’s press conference.
