Sony apparently realised the cash cow that is classic re-masters and they’re about to add another to their list. The Jak and Daxter Trilogy and Jak X will be getting the HD, 1080p update and release on PS4 later this year.
All four titles will get the remaster treatment and come complete with trophy support. Features like Shareplay, Remote Play, and Activity Feeds will also be introduced. While Jak X won’t support any online features it WILL have split-screen multiplayer. That’s right, you will actually have to go to your friends house to play with them, instead of sitting on your ass and relying on your Internet connection, lazy bums.
“Longtime fans and new players alike can experience the incredible exploits of Jak and Daxter as the duo sets out to explore ancient lands and unravel the mysteries of the Precursors,” wrote Sony on the EU PlayStation Blog.
Developed by Naughty Dog, Jak & Daxter was first released on the PS2 wayyyy back in December 2001. Jak 2 then followed in 2003 with Jak 3 getting released the following year, Jak X then arrived in 2005 and is, to date, the final entry in the series that was produced by Naughty Dog. Other teams then developed spin off titles such as Daxter and The Lost Frontier.
The dynamic duo have also appeared in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and PlayStation Move Heroes, with the platforming series selling over 15 million copies worldwide.
