Learn to Make Games with PolygonCollege, Achieve C&G Diplomas

Update: Previously this article stated that UK trade body Ukie had partnered with Polygon College, this is in fact incorrect and the article has been updated to reflect that. Ukie have zero involvement with Polygon College.

Original Story: The PolygonCollege has launched and they’re hoping to offer prospective game developers a step onto the game dev ladder with a series of courses aimed at providing qualifications needed to get ahead of the… ahem… game.

With the cost of higher education rising, it’s getting increasingly difficult for students to attend of even re-train in a different industry. Fortunately for those wanting to get a head start in game development or even other sectors such as computer science or programming, Microsoft have partnered with PolygonCollege to offer higher level approved City & Guilds Diplomas.

These higher level courses can be studied flexibly online and purchased at an affordable modular model, allowing prospective students the ability to learn at their own pace at a more affordable rate while also working towards a world recognised approved UK Diploma.

That’s not all, with their new launched website, students can learn to make games quickly at any level, from beginners through to intermediate and advanced courses all of which span an incredible variety of topics including Unity, JavaScript, C++, C#, DirectX, and much more. There are also courses focusing on art/animation/design covering, amongst other things, 3ds Max, Photoshop and design/testing.

Prospective students can get a head start too with a series of free lessons, including a quiz to help you find the right path in games development. All of this and more can be found on the PolygonCollege website.

Those who do hop into a course will gain access to the newly launched Polygon Engine, an in-browser game engine exclusive to PolygonCollege members letting them build games along side course material, and even publish their games online in seconds. Finally, among other things, Polygon College have teamed up with Microsoft to provide full access to Microsoft Imagine Premium for all Polygon subscribers.

To find out even more, head on over to the PolygonCollege website. You never know, you might be behind the next big thing.
