Square Enix and Platinum Games has this week announced that their recently released RPG, Nier: Automata has shipped over 1 million copies worldwide both physical and digital across PlayStation 4 and PC.
The game, which initially landed on PlayStation 4, and eventually found its place on PC, has achieved great success critically. Our very own Danny Major wrote that “Nier: Automata is a fresh, dynamic and robust take on action role playing games. It thrives on interesting character design, intelligent gameplay and compelling story telling. It is quite outstanding.”
Now, a month after release, Square Enix has revealed that it’s shipped over a million copies, a pretty impressive feat considering the game could be considered to have a bit of a niche audience.
Nier director, Yoko Taro had the following to say on Twitter:
Thank you so…….so much. I can't describe by my poor English. But thank you. (;_;) pic.twitter.com/L1XXuawXN2
