Niantic Labs has revealed that Pokémon Go is still pretty popular, and that a co-op update is in the works and will be coming soon.
Speaking at the London Games Festival last week, Niantic Labs’ John Hanke revealed that Pokémon Go sees a pretty impressive 65 million-plus monthly active users. Despite the game’s popularity dwinding since the summer of 2016, that’s still an impressive number by any means.
“We owe the continued momentum and recognition to the dedicated players exploring the world and creating adventures together in Pokemon Go,” Niantic said in a blog post. “Each and every award Pokemon Go has won is a testament to the game’s awesome and supportive community.”
Niantic has also teased an upcoming update for Pokémon Go, with the company saying that the game is still at the very start of its life. One of those new updates will include some co-operative gameplay, which is interesting to say the least.
“We’re still at the beginning of the journey and there’s a lot more to come. With spring arriving in the northern hemisphere, players can look forward to all new cooperative social gameplay experiences in Pokemon Go that will give Trainers new and exciting reasons to get back into the sunshine,” the company wrote.
There’s also word that trading will be coming to Pokémon Go in the near future.
