It’s been a news-packed week for Call of Duty fans; a few days ago we got the first trailer for Sledgehammer Games’ upcoming Call of Duty: WWII, and today we got leaked details about the rumoured Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles.
The rumoured game is all but officially confirmed, having popped up on listings from retailers in Poland and Mexico. Even the ERSB outed the game briefly, before removing the post.
According to some internet sleuths on Reddit, who data-mined the most recent Black Ops III message of the day, the standalone game will include remastered maps from previous Call of Duty titles World At War, Black Ops, and Black Ops II. The maps appear to be the following: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, and Shi No Numa from World At War; Kino der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-la, and Moon from the original Black Ops, and Origins from Black Ops II.
We most likely will not have to wait long for the official reveal from Treyarch, who are scheduled to make an official announcement on May 5.
According to the leaked information Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles will also be a timed exclusive, coming to PS4 before any other platform. And this is not the only remaster of a previous Call of Duty game that fans can look forward to- a standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered is apparently in the pipeline as well.
