Here’s the First Trailer for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower

Oh boy.

Apparently this week is a good week for badass trailers. Along side the release of the first Defenders trailer we got our first look at the long anticipated, The Dark Tower movie!

This is an adaptation of the renowned Stephen King novels, and stars Idris Elba as the Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black.

For those that aren’t aware, the Dark Tower is a series of 8 books that incorporate multiple themes; western, horror, dark fantasy, science fantasy are all prevalent. The story follows a “gunslinger” in his quest towards a tower, the nature of which is both physical and metaphorical.

The series, and the way it uses the Dark Tower, expands upon Stephen King’s multiverse and in doing so, links together many of his other novels. King has described the series as his magnum opus, or masterpiece (Stephen apparently isn’t afraid of tooting his own horn).

Seriously though, the series is world renowned and probably one of his finest works. In addition to the eight main novels of the series, which comprise 4,250 pages, many of King’s other books can be related to the story, introducing concepts and characters that come into play as the series progresses.

Personally I am a HUGE King fan and can not wait to see one of his best series, transcribed onto the big screen. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself below! The Dark Tower hits theatres August 8.
